Here is the link to a great promotion from Diverse Reader for my novel and a great review by Meredith King.
A wonderful story about my book, GOODBYE, SATURDAY NIGHT, written by feature columnist Lori Gilbert, was published in yesterday’s local newspaper, The Record. Ms. Gilbert is a very popular feature writer in Northern California. Here is a link to the story:
I imagine you folks are getting tired of hearing about my book signing but I have some thoughts I want to share. There is a feeling of validation when folks actually come to buy your book and ask you to sign it. It helps make the whole trip more real. I’m sure Maugham, Hemingway, Steinbeck, Capote, and certainly Harper Lee, got used to folks wanting their signature inside the cover of a book. It’s brand new to me and I am still on cloud nine after the experience.
A few of the folks who said they were coming didn’t make it but several who did not respond, and one whom I never realized knew about the book, came by to help me celebrate. I was amazed and humbled by the outpouring of interest in my book.
I have my first book signing tomorrow for my novel, GOODBYE, SATURDAY NIGHT. Now, I get to enter the ranks with those authors who have gone before me, who have taken pen in hand and wrote nice, personal passages to the fans of their work. I get to join the great ones, Maugham, Hemingway, Steinbeck, Faulkner, Capote, Lee, McMurtry, Warren, Reardon, and on and on. Life is good. That is a validation that can’t be diminished.
Friday (October 28) is the big day for my book signing for my novel, GOODBYE, SATURDAY NIGHT, at the University Bookstore on the campus of University of the Pacific. I am really honored to be able to have the signing on the campus I love so much. Pacific has been my home for over 10 years and my blood has turned very orange. If you are in the Stockton, CA area Friday, swing by the University Bookstore between 4pm and 6pm and say hello. I will have cookies and iced tea to offer quests and I will be giving out free bookmarks, even if you don’t buy a book.
I am super excited! the book releases tomorrow on both Amazon. com and foundationsbooks.com. I never really thought I’d see this day. Somebody need to wake me up. It has been 37 years since I first put pen to paper (literally), and now the book will be on the market for readers to buy and read. Most writers live and write their whole lives without ever knowing the validation of having a publisher want their work. I feel honored, and humbled. Is it just a dream?
